It’s not often that I report on a gadget made by, ahem, Mattel. Usually I like to report on things like mobile electronics, and Mattel is best known as the makers of He-man.
Well, it looks like they are trying to break into the mobile electronics market with the IM-Me, a little text-messaging device with limited (and I do mean limited) capacity. The IM-Me is designed to work within the range of that little included USB dongle that you see there, and parents have control over who can be added to their daughter’s circle of text-messaging friends.
I suppose the purpose of this is to give your daughter a pink text-messenger, and keep her as far away from predators as possible. The price is about $65 USD, but I can’t help but wonder how well this one will go over.
